Information for Parents
Scouting and Guiding does cost money, but the good news is Scouting and Guiding nationwide offers some of the best value for money.
You will need to pay for
Subs
Pays for the activities you do in your section and the resources for them (e.g. craft materials and sports equipment) as well as the maintenance and upkeep of our facilities in TSGG and to support our group activities.
Your subs also include the Capitation fees for your membership of either the Scout Association or Girlguiding. It includes things like support for the leaders, national programmes, schemes and crucially, insurance.
If you don’t pay the Subs, you're uninsured and we can't let you join in.
Your Sub is paid at the start of each term.
Additional Activities
Such as occasional Camps, residential nights out and some visits are arranged. These additional activities are not mandatory but add a valuable experience for the young people.
Uniform
Both Scouts and Guides are uniformed organisations and so on many occasions you'll be asked to wear a uniform.
Uniforms can be purchased from:

Gift Aid
Gift Aid allows us to raise extra funds for the group at no extra cost to you. If you're a UK taxpayer paying at least the basic rate of income tax, by donating through Gift Aid, the group can claim back the tax (20%) from HM Revenue and Customs. Please ask your section leader for a form to complete.
Financial Support
If you are having any money troubles, please speak to us. Generally speaking, we don't want a child to miss out because of money problems. Please explain your situation to the Section Leader. An arrangement may be possible.
Each Section is run as an independent unit by the Leaders who handle their own unit money.
Fundraising
To ensure that we never place too much of a financial burden on our parents we hold regular fundraising events to help subsidise our activities.
Our major fundraisers each year are the Gang Show or Pantomime (alternating on an annual basis) Christmas Faye, also quiz nights, bingo evenings and discos.
If you want to get involved, then let us know - we'd love to see you!
Minibuses
As we've mentioned the group itself does lots of things and these too must be paid for.
Our fundraising primarily allows us to run two minibuses for transporting the children on outings and to camps.
